Your child reads, writes, spells, and talks through new skills with Hanna. The routine is consistent; the instruction is chosen for your child.
01 Active online learning
Online, but fully hands-on.
Your child is an active participant throughout the lesson. They work aloud and on paper while Hanna models, listens, watches, and responds.
A document camera shows Hanna your child's writing in real time. She can correct a misunderstanding before it becomes a habit and acknowledge a successful strategy as it happens.
Students read, write, spell, and explain their thinking in every session.
02 A predictable routine
Four parts of each session.
Knowing what comes next helps students focus on the learning rather than the format.
Review
Previous sounds, spelling patterns, and words return for brief practice. Review helps important skills become easier to use.
Direct instruction
Hanna explains and models the day's new sound, spelling pattern, or reading concept. The student is not expected to discover the rule alone.
Guided practice
Your child practices the new skill aloud and on paper with carefully chosen examples and immediate feedback.
Real application
The new skill is used in spelling, dictation, fluency work, sentences, or a passage so it connects to real reading.
03 Skills Hanna teaches
The parts of reading work together.
Hanna selects and sequences instruction based on the assessment and the student's response to each lesson.
Phonics & Decoding
Connecting sounds to letters and spelling patterns so unfamiliar words can be decoded.
Spelling & Dictation
Using sounds and patterns to write words and sentences accurately.

Building accurate, expressive, and increasingly automatic oral reading.

04 What you need at home
A simple setup for active learning.
Because lessons include writing and immediate feedback, students need a computer, a document camera, and a workspace where they can write comfortably.
What your child needs
- A laptop or desktop computer
- A USB document camera (such as the IPEVO V4K)
- A dry erase board and markers
- A reliable internet connection
- A quiet workspace with room to write
